There are plenty of vegan choices at both breakfast and dinner, and the meat and fish dishes were tasty too. Dinner was good, with good beer alongside it. Breakfast has a solid continental spread with fresh tea, coffee and juice, plus nearly all the usual English breakfast items, though there’s no fried bacon. The rooms are spacious and quiet, with comfortable beds and a roomy shower even for taller guests. The staff were friendly and helpful, and their English was decent. A good option for vegans and people who avoid lactose.

We especially liked the peaceful setting and the cycling paths nearby, which made it easy to explore together. The place also has enough space and amenities for a big family gathering, though it feels just as suited to a quiet couples’ break. Food was a highlight, with lots of fresh vegan dishes and obvious care from the chef. From arrival, the hotel felt clean and welcoming, and the staff were warm and attentive to detail. We left already looking forward to coming back, and would happily recommend it.

The staff were so welcoming, and Michael, the Manager, helped us out when we called at the last minute without a booking. Our room was lovely, with soft, comfortable beds and pillows, plus bathroom heaters that came in handy. Dinner was excellent and the breakfast buffet was good. My husband was provided gluten-free bread. I would have liked some fish at breakfast, perhaps salmon, so that could be worth considering. We’d highly recommend the hotel and plan to return next year.

The restaurant has a varied menu and lots of vegan choices, though some dishes were better than others. One evening we waited 50 minutes for the main course despite many empty tables. That’s not acceptable for a 4 star hotel. Reception was also unattended a few times. The staff were polite and seemed to be doing their best, but service needs to improve for the hotel to merit its rating. The spa is pleasant, with a steam bath, 60°C and 90°C saunas, a nice shower and a good lounge, but there’s no swimming pool or bath area despite what the description says. Access costs 5 Euro per person per day, which I think should be free for guests. Our room was large, clean and quiet, the bed was comfortable, and breakfast was good, including gluten-free bread on request. Those parts were all fine. This is just my opinion.
