I’m working near Hohenfels and had been trying to book a week as close by as possible. Most of the more popular places around there were full, and I came across Zum Weißen Rössler by chance. I wasn’t sure at first, but booked it anyway. I arrived about three hours before the posted check-in time and was greeted by a wonderfully nice, welcoming employee or owner. They gave me a key, and I went to my apartment room. The photos didn’t do it justice: it’s a very large apartment with a bedroom, bathroom, small kitchen, and a big living and sitting room. There’s a desk where I can work and a beautiful view from the windows. The bed is amazingly comfortable, and I’m looking forward to the rest of my stay. Unfortunately, the restaurant downstairs is closed on Tuesday, but I’ll definitely check it out once it opens.

A pretty classic European-style Italian and Mediterranean restaurant. The menu is fairly standard, though the specials are good. Service is good, and they serve the regulars first. A solid, straightforward place with no surprises.

A nice place to eat in kallmunz. The crew are very friendly, and the prices are reasonable.

The landlady was rude and unfriendly. At breakfast she didn’t even tell us where anything was, then went straight back behind her table and refused to take any responsibility after that. The price-performance ratio is mediocre. The rooms are small but very clean, and the bathroom is new and attractive.

The bathroom has been renovated and is clean. The location right on the Naab River, in Kallmünz itself, is very beautiful. Still, I wouldn’t recommend the guesthouse. The rooms aren’t clean, and the back of the building smells musty, possibly moldy. The outer glass on the energy-saving bulbs in the bedside wall lamps was broken. Lighting throughout the building is very dim, and with broken steps on the stairs, that creates a greater risk of accidents. Breakfast is very limited in both choice and quantity. The restaurant is closed, and the beer garden only opens Mondays from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM. At €80 a night, it’s too expensive for the condition of the property.
