The Great North - Hotel

We had a really enjoyable stay with our young family. The room was spacious, well equipped, and had plenty of space for a baby bed without it getting in the way. The hotel has character and is thoughtfully designed, so it made a lovely first impression. Breakfast was busy while we were there, but the buffet stayed clean and well stocked right through to the end, which is handy if you like a lie-in. There was a good selection, including several eggs made to order. They also had all the child-friendly amenities we needed, like a high chair, and everything was very clean. Dinner was another highlight. The food was delicious and nicely presented, and the restaurant had a great atmosphere. I’d definitely recommend the red wine from Puglia too.

Honestly, the breakfast by itself is enough reason to go 🙂

We went after seeing online that The Great North Hotel serves breakfast to people who aren't staying there. From the warm welcome to the lovely atmosphere and being shown to our table, the start was great. The staff were attentive and friendly, and gave us a quick explanation before we headed to the buffet. There was something for everyone, all laid out beautifully, and we could take our time without feeling rushed. Drinks included sparkling wine, orange juice, different coffees, and hot chocolate. Special egg dishes were included as well. At €32 per person, breakfast and drinks included, the price seemed just right. Parking is right outside. We’ll definitely come back, and would recommend it to anyone after a relaxed, tasty breakfast.

Breakfast was a real highlight, with a generous buffet, complimentary egg dishes like Eggs Benedict, different omelets and shakshuka, plus the option to make your own juices and smoothies. We’d also recommend the Flowerz restaurant for dinner. The whole hotel has a modern, lovely design with a British theme. We stayed in a Traveller's Room, the lowest category, and it was surprisingly spacious. The bed was large and comfortable, and it was handy being able to connect a mobile phone to the TV for watching in the evening. Service was friendly and attentive, and we were able to get into our room much earlier. We’d booked the wellness package, so we could reach the thermal baths through the bathrobe corridor all day, including on arrival and departure days.
