Gästehaus Kamminke

The harbor at Kamminke is about a 15-minute walk, with a clean, uncrowded swimming spot right beside it. We really enjoyed swimming there. The other hotspots were around 20 minutes away by car or bike. Our apartment didn’t have a terrace, but that was fine. The garden is spacious enough to relax in without bothering anyone, and there was a small table and two chairs outside the house where we could eat together. A lovely, peaceful place to stay. Definitely recommended! 👍

The guest services staff were friendly and very polite, and the location was peaceful. Still, this wasn’t good value for money. The advertised terrace for our unit wasn’t available, even though it had been a key reason I booked. Guest services suggested asking the neighbors to use theirs. We didn’t feel comfortable doing that for privacy reasons, so we ate indoors every day. The garden furniture was badly broken, the garden looked neglected, and dogs were allowed to relieve themselves there. Dogs don’t usually bother us, but some seemed poorly socialized, and we were constantly braced for a barking dog to come around the corner and treat us like intruders. The kitchen had plenty of appliances, but nowhere to plug them in. We ended up putting the microwave on the floor so we could use the outlets for the bedside lamps. The nearby beach was fine for sitting briefly in the evening, but not for swimming. There was so much seaweed and such a bad smell that even the campers there didn’t go in.

We’d happily come back. The apartment had everything we could have wanted, and whenever we made a request, we got a quick reply and a solution. The only small drawback for us was the staircase to the apartment: the steps were large and very steep. That’s really just a minor gripe, though. Everything else was perfect for us.

At 100 euros a night, we got one room with almost nothing in it. There was no wardrobe, only a few dressers, and some of those were already occupied. For a two-week linen package, there were just two hand towels and two bath towels. Nothing for the kitchen either, not even a broom or bottle opener. Just disappointing, and other guests left early too. The house looked picturesque online, but in person it was a complete disaster. There are hardly any bike paths, the harbor feels dead with no boat traffic, and locals advised against eating the fish. Garz would be a better choice. In short, stay away.
