The restaurant, which is run by other people, is excellent. The room booking was another matter. After a long journey, I arrived and spent more than ten minutes calling to let them know I was there. They seemed not to know we were staying. If you book a room, call on the day to remind them. Not good.

The room had no toiletries apart from liquid hand soap, and there was no water supply beside the kettle on the ground floor. From the studio, getting to that communal kettle and fridge meant going down and back up two flights of stairs. The road seemed quiet when we arrived, but it got surprisingly busy from 6am, so we had to shut the windows. The studio itself was spacious and clean for four people, though it was very warm on an August night and had no air conditioning or fan. It was up two flights of stairs. With young children, I’d be cautious about this room: one window is quite large, opens wide, and is a long way up on the second floor.

The rooms are comfortable, the food is great, and the wine is good quality. It's a restaurant, a vineyard, and a guesthouse, all without costing a lot. Definitely worth a visit. I'd go again. Lovely.
