Hotel Maurer

We booked a triple room for one night. The neighborhood was quiet, and the staff were friendly and helpful. It’s one of the cheapest hotels in Karlsruhe. Breakfast was good and affordable, served from 6-10AM on weekdays and 7-10AM on weekends. All in all, a good experience.

The U-bahn (tramway) is right across the street, and you can get to the city center pretty quickly. If you’re traveling with family or a group, you can buy 'Das TagesTicket 1 Person' or 'Das TagesTicket 5 Personen', which covers up to five people for the whole day on one line. There are other ticket options too. The hotel has free parking, and internet is free with a note from reception. The connection is good. There’s also a coffee machine with free coffee, though mostly just one type is available, and I don’t like the taste. Breakfast isn’t included. My room was dusty and smelled quite bad. I think it was coming from the toilet, sometimes mixed with food smells from the neighborhood.

My family and I are staying here for three days, and this is day two. I’m enjoying it so far and hope nothing goes wrong. We especially like being able to get a free hot drink, and there are televisions in every room where you can watch movies for free. One thing could be improved: in both rooms, the hotel gave us hand-wash soap instead of hair and body shampoo. My parents had it in their room too. It wasn’t a big problem, though, since they gave us shampoo when we asked. Thanks for having us 😁

The Wi-Fi setup was so complicated that I gave up after 20 minutes. Aside from that, it’s a nice place to stay in the Black Forest area, with nice staff and clean, comfortable rooms. The breakfast is a great option for 5€ extra.
