The owner was helpful, and the hotel has a quaint charm, though the rooms are basic. I’d hoped to try the cuisine after reading the reviews, but the kitchen was closed during my stay because of staffing issues, so neither breakfast nor other food was available.

The staff were lovely, and the hotel was very clean. We booked at the last minute and they were able to fit us in. It’s good value if you’re fine with the basics, and management even offered to open the kitchen later for us. There’s parking outside. We got a chilly room in September, but it warmed up quickly once we turned on the heating. We were on the top floor, where the phone signal was poor, though that’s not the hotel’s fault. The WiFi wasn’t much better, and of the two bedside lamps, only one could be plugged in because there was no socket on the other side of the bed.

The restaurant is well placed for visiting the Hercules statue. We had pork schnitzel Wiener Art with salad and boiled potatoes, plus soup and yogurt desert, for a good-value lunch at 9.50€. The hotel restaurant also has some Indian dishes.

We waited 20 minutes without anyone coming over to serve us, even though there was only one other table with guests.
