Hotel Hofreit am Bierkeller

The central spot in Kehl is handy, with the city center and tram to Strasbourg both just two minutes away. The hotel feels cozy, and the staff were friendly and courteous. Check-in was smooth, and breakfast had everything we needed.

We felt at home during our three-night stay with our three-year-old daughter. Our room was spacious and super clean, and breakfast was very good. The location worked well for day trips to Alsace and Europa Park, and we were lucky enough to catch Kehl Messdi, a local festival with live music. I strongly recommend this hotel!

For a cheap room, this was far better than I expected, and the host and service were outstanding. We were here during a record heatwave in Germany. There was no air conditioning, but the hostess lent us her office fan for our room, which helped. The value for money was excellent for me, my wife, and our child. The room wasn’t very big, with a shower and sink, while the WC was down the hall. It was relatively clean, though I did find dust on the headboard. The fridge kept our drinks and food cold, but smelled a bit, as it seemed to have been left closed and switched off between guests. The place is getting worn and could use some renovation. They also had a book by an Icelandic author, from my homeland, for guests to read 😊

The rooms were clean and simple, with nothing fancy. Staff were friendly and courteous, and they offered us a garage to keep our bikes overnight. A good stop on an EV15 bike trip.
