We can't wait to return. The homemade honey was a highlight, produced on site by their own bees and among the best I've tasted. Our stay at Landhotel Sophienhöhe was spectacular, especially the uniquely decorated, atmospheric room with the Tower, "La Torre", which felt like a fairytale. The whole staff were genuinely warm and professional, and went out of their way to make us feel welcome. For a peaceful getaway, distinctive rooms, great service and local products, I'd highly recommend it.

The double rooms are huge, and there's free parking and a lovely breakfast. A charming hotel with a wonderful restaurant and amazing, friendly service. A hidden gem.

We stopped for one night and dinner, booking through Booking.com. The room was okay, but it smelled bad, so we opened the windows and doors while we ate. The beer was large and cold. Dinner was disappointing: I chose veal schnitzel with chanterelles, but for 29 Euros the schnitzel was small and there were only a few mushrooms. There was no sauce, though they offered mayonnaise. The biggest issue is the military jet engine test site 500 meters away. The noise is indescribable, although it stops at 20.30. Breakfast cost 12.50 Euro and really wasn't worth it. It was an okay visit, but we won't return.

The restaurant food is delicious, and it's also a great venue for smaller celebrations. The place is peaceful and quiet while still close to nearby big cities. Much about it seems to be in a positive relationship with nature.

Villa Sophienhöhe was spotless, and my wife and I both loved the soap in the shower. I had three cups of the delicious morning coffee. Honey from the bees that pollinate the small orchard makes a great gift too. It's a peaceful place to enjoy rural beauty in Deutschland, near the Belgian border.
