Ferienhaus Brigitte

The setting is what we loved: a peaceful little cottage by the forest and a large meadow, with a small restaurant serving delicious food just a 10-minute walk away. It was clean and thoughtfully equipped, down to the cutlery, dishes, and tools. The landlady was nice and not pushy, and the TV, toaster, coffee maker, fridge, kettle, and other appliances all worked. The bedroom ceiling is low, about 1.80m at its highest point. Three things need attention. The hard couch is quite uncomfortable. The toilet cistern is very small and refills slowly, taking about 3 minutes before it can flush again. We like to leave the toilet clean, which meant flushing 2-3 times and spending 5-6 minutes in the bathroom. The Wi-Fi was the biggest frustration. The repeater just blinked, and when we called or texted Ms. Förster, she said they were working on the fiber optic cable and it would come back by itself. This happened about 3 times over 3-4 days. Each time it worked briefly after we got in touch, then cut out again. Internet reception in smaller towns can be poor, so Wi-Fi is useful these days, especially when it’s advertised. It’s not essential, and things can break, but having the same problem again and again is a no-go. We’ll manage the remaining 3 days, but it’s a real shame.

There’s no sauna or swimming pool, but that hardly matters when you’re surrounded by unspoiled nature. Brigitte is a cozy holiday home with everything needed for a winter break, beautifully set at the edge of the forest in Mühlleithen. You can put on your skis right outside the house and head into the winter woods. Highly recommended!
