Hotel-Landhaus Birkenmoor

The restaurant is beautiful and the food is excellent. It's a very nice place, and the owner is an honest, very helpful man.

The owner was especially helpful and flexible when sorting out a problem, so many thanks for that. I didn't eat at the hotel, so I can't comment on the food. My room was lovely, with a warm, tasteful color scheme, and the hotel itself is furnished with a lot of care. The bed was comfortable, and I really appreciated having an extra pillow even in a single room.

The room was clean enough and had no obvious defects, but the quoted nightly price felt unreasonable, even with the 10% booking.com discount and breakfast included. More accurate information about the room and better communication from the hotel would have made a difference. We booked for two adults and our 5-year-old through booking.com, expecting a double bed and a sofa bed. Instead, there was only a double bed made up of two separate mattresses, with no extra place for our child, so they slept with us. There was also confusion over breakfast: at first we were told our child's meal would cost extra, though that was corrected after a short discussion. The next morning, no place had been set for our child. Breakfast was fine apart from a burnt roll in our basket, which they replaced. The stay was acceptable, but communication and service need improvement.

The breakfast was plentiful, varied, and tasty, with fragrant bakery rolls on the table, which you don't come across that often these days. The owner was very friendly. We got the quiet room we'd requested, and it was spacious, clean, and carefully furnished, like the rest of the hotel. They'd even fitted the bed with a height-adjustable slatted frame. If you're in this quiet area, I'd recommend the hotel.
