Gästehaus Seehof

I’m writing about what happened at Seehof Apartments&Café this afternoon. My four-month-old daughter became hungry, so my wife and I looked for an indoor place to feed her. We understood that we needed to order something to stay in a German restaurant, and we were already prepared to do that. At around 3 pm on Thursday, the restaurant was empty. We went in and sat down, but no one came to serve us for nearly a minute. I asked my wife and daughter to stay inside while I went to the coffee corner. I met the owner and ordered a coffee in exchange for being able to sit there. She said they accepted cash only, and I said that was fine. She agreed to the order but gave me no receipt. I returned to the indoor area, drank the coffee, and my wife fed our daughter. About 30 minutes later, just as we were packing up to leave, the owner rushed in from the kitchen and shouted at us in English: “Next time you want to do this, ask for my permission! GO BACK TO YOUR COUNTRY! THIS IS OUR COUNTRY!” My wife and I were extremely shocked and couldn't understand what we had done wrong. We had been feeding our baby in an empty restaurant at 3 pm after ordering something. We are Asian, and we don't know whether she dislikes babies more or non-Germans more. My daughter was born in Germany and is a German citizen. After I got home, I reported the incident to the Antidiskriminierungsstelle des Bundes, and the report was accepted. I have three witnesses, including my daughter, and I’m taking further legal action over this racial discrimination. I hope the owner won't be surprised to hear from us again. Today is not 1938. Being German doesn't mean having white skin and yellow hair; Germany is much more diverse now. I’m not sorry if that frustrates her. I’ll proudly teach my daughter to keep standing up to German racists, so Germany doesn't go back to last century.
