After a ten-hour drive from the UK toward Prague, we arrived to find the place locked up and apparently deserted. Nobody answered the phone. We'd booked through Booking.com a month ahead, but had to drive back 50 miles to Munich to find somewhere, since everything nearby was full. What a shame for the business.

Dinner downstairs was homemade and great, and the lake the town is named for is a gorgeous ten-minute walk away. The Bavarian decor gives the hotel a really cozy, traditional feel. Our room was very clean, though a coffee maker or tea kettle would have been useful. Breakfast was good, but the choices were somewhat limited.

We were right in the town center, and had comfy beds, friendly staff, and a newly renovated bathroom in our room. Breakfast was the weak point: aside from eggs, there weren't any hot choices.

The food was refined, and the value was excellent.

We only came for dinner, twice, and really enjoyed the food. The staff were some of the nicest people we met on our travels, and they made an effort to help us across the language barrier.
