We slept well in our clean, well-kept room, and the breakfast spread had plenty of choice. Dinner at the restaurant was freshly made and genuinely tasty. Neue Schänke is right below Königstein Fortress, a great base for hikes and trips around Saxon Switzerland, though the geography means some places aren't easy to reach on foot. The staff were warm and helpful while still giving us space, and we felt looked after throughout our stay. We'd happily return.

We stayed in our campervan and the pitch was fine. Since the hotel manages the pitches, we tried its breakfast for €15 per person. The buffet was nearly empty, and we had to ask for fried eggs. The coffee machine also needed fixing. We waited 15 minutes while the receptionist finished a cigarette in the back courtyard, then she brought us cutlery. Honestly, we would've eaten better in the campervan 😅. Still, the staff were very nice.
