The hotel was clean, had a bit of an old-school feel, a tasty free breakfast, a good location, and a fair price. The staff were very friendly and moved us to a third-floor room when we reported the issue. The only complaint I have is the A/C noise in some rooms. In rooms 15 and 23, the units buzzed very loudly about once a minute, like a door buzzer in an old apartment building. I'm not picky and can sleep through a lot, but this noise was loud. We and our friends had three rooms on the third floor with no problem. I believe those units ran independently from the lower-level system and were quiet. I hope they fix it, because their reviews will improve.

The staff were really helpful. At 6:30am, one of the kitchen staff handed me a packed breakfast with a big warm grin. The hotel is in a great spot, with the cute Niederberg streets just over the bridge and the town centre a 15 min walk away. The area is lively, with a pub beneath the rooms and a park opposite, but the sound insulation is excellent and I heard nothing in my room. The rooms are comfortable and newly refurbished.

All the staff were outstandingly polite and friendly, and seemed to genuinely like their jobs. That's a good reflection on the management and owner. I'd stay here again without question. It's a great hotel, in an excellent spot less than 5 mom on foot from Bodensee. The restaurant and bar also handle check-in for guests arriving late. Parking is a real headache in this residential area. It took a while to find a spot near the hotel, and otherwise you have to park farther away and take a bus. I took off a star for a few things, though they wouldn't stop me returning. The room had an air conditioner but no way to turn it on. The wooden floors under the carpet creaked pretty loudly, though honestly it wasn't a major issue. The shower door wasn't great either, since water leaked all over the bathroom no matter what I tried. And at 2240 I went to the bar for a non-alcoholic drink. They said they close at 2300 and wouldn't serve me even a simple soda, which I found annoyingly annoying.

The rooms were neat and clean, though not very large. They have what you need if you don't plan to spend time sitting in the room. Breakfast was great, with lots of choice and good quality food. The staff were helpful and did their best to give information and coupons. For the price, this was very good, and one of the cheapest places we found in the general area. Don't expect to get more for less money nearby. The drawbacks were the shortage of parking near the hotel, where even finding a place to unload the car was tricky, and the shower water temperature, which I couldn't come to a mutual understanding with.
