Hotel Halm Konstanz

The breakfast was the best part. The restaurant manager and chef were nice and seemed happy in their work, and the food selection was generous. The room itself was beautiful, but not properly cleaned: we found black hair on the sheets and carpets. At 10 am, housekeeping knocked to ask if we were leaving, even though checkout was at 11. We paid 300€ for only 10 hours in the room, which is a shame. If guests leave at 11:00, the room should be ready for the next person by 12:00. We'd booked months ahead and requested early check-in, but it wasn't arranged. At noon reception said the room wasn't ready and that we had to call later to check. We came back at 1 pm after a quick lunch, but it still wasn't ready. We had to get ready for an event, and staff told us to use the hallway toilette. Getting into a suit and long dress there, with our luggage open in the hallway, was awful. The toilette STINKS very bad. We returned from the event at 00:30, after a long day, and they seemed surprised that we still needed to check in. They offered the prosecco, juice or water welcome drink then, which could have been given when we first arrived, especially to make up for the room not being available. They still went ahead with payment and the rest at 1 am, when it could have been handled at checkout the next day. Badly organised.

We've stayed here around 40 times, and the welcome is a big reason we keep returning. Every visit, the staff make us feel at home. The service is always excellent, the rooms are comfortable and spotless, and it's a relaxing place each time.

Being able to walk to the main sights made getting around so easy, and the hotel was right across the street from the train station when we arrived from the airport. We never heard train noise. My husband and I spent three nights here on our honeymoon, and the clean room and attentive, lovely front desk staff made it a 10/10 stay. We'd happily come back.

The hotel is right opposite the train station, but we found it a peaceful spot in the old town of constance. Shops and other restaurants are very close by. The restaurant serves Maroccan specialties and is well worth booking ahead for. We’ll be back soon.
