Mercure Hotel Krefeld ex Novotel

The forest around the hotel was quiet and lovely, and that peaceful setting was the best part of my stay. The room was another story: it felt dated, wasn't very clean, and the sink was broken. The rooms could use some upkeep and updating.

The food was great, and the restaurant staff were quick and attentive. In the room, though, noise came through from the central atrium, and a very loud fan kept switching on and off. The shower pressure was poor, and the temperature changed very easily between hot and cold. I was also disappointed that there was just one pillow, and it was extremely soft.

I had my car and needed to get to Messe Düsseldorf, so this worked well for my stay. The room was good, with a decent shower and a fridge. I also enjoyed the bar, where the staff were friendly.

The hotel is tucked away in the forest, but a walking path leads toward the main street. Bus line 052 connects Krefeld city center with the main street, then it's about a 10-minute walk to the hotel. I found the stay pleasant and good value. The room was clean and cozy, with a soft bed and the usual hotel amenities. Breakfast had plenty of choice, including German breads, and there’s a bar inside too.
