The location is great, but after our 10-day stay, the rest left us feeling sobered, and at times concerned for safety. The photos on this site and on booking.com may be 10 or more years old, so don't rely too much on them. The garden wasn't nearly as well kept as pictured, and the house overall felt dated. The bathroom with shower seemed to have been renovated and was in working order. The basement rooms smelled very musty, though they could be aired out through large windows. There were blackout curtains but no shutters. The balcony railings had been poorly repaired and seemed like an injury risk, especially for children and dogs. There were no smoke detectors in the house, although they have been mandatory in existing buildings since January 1, 2018. The parking space assigned to the holiday home was also used by the landlady and her family, so sometimes, as paying guests, we had to carry all our luggage a few metres farther to the car. Thanks :-) The biggest issue was the landlord's entry into the house. While we were renting it, I was downstairs in the basement when I suddenly heard voices. Upstairs, I found the landlady in the hallway with two men, wanting to show the property to potential customers. Hello? That's not okay. I immediately reported it to booking.com and the tourist office. Even though the location seems tempting, I'd urge extreme caution with this holiday home and the uncooperative landlady.

I stayed there in 1964 to meet the woman who later became my wife. She was doing an internship at Kranzbach, and we married two years later. The hosts were very lovely.
