ACHAT Hotel Kulmbach

The room was pleasant and spacious, and breakfast was a great buffet. Staff were very helpful. The hotel sits in a quiet residential area surrounded by parks, about a 10-minute walk from the station.

I’m a lorry driver, and it was great to find somewhere I could park my truck as a hotel guest. The hotel is beautiful and clean, and the staff were kind to me even though I’m an outsider. The town is small but beautiful and calm. Stores and the city are a 10-minute walk away, and restaurants for an evening meal are about 15 minutes on foot, including one that’s open on Sunday. Breakfast was good too. I’d recommend it.

I’ve known this place for over 20 years and have seen every change in operating company. Taste has brought it down, which is sad to say. There’s no longer a fridge, coffee machine, or kettle in the room, and the only service is towel changes. They no longer make the beds or change the bedding, and the staff are unfriendly, among other problems. The big rooms and nice bathrooms earn it two stars. I can only hope things improve when the management company changes again.

Room 030 is far from the other rooms and only about three steps from the outdoor cafe. From 4 to 8 p.m., the customers make so much noise that it carries straight into the room. There were other rooms available, but they put us in this noisy one, even though they knew we were on a work trip. We couldn’t sleep or focus on our work. The facilities are very limited: no iron, no air conditioning despite the hot summer, and no towel changes. The staff weren’t friendly to international guests, and the price wasn’t cheap either.
