I liked the feel of this small hotel in Kulmbach’s centre, and found it much more appealing than the big chains. The rooms are clean and looked after, the staff are very friendly, and breakfast is fresh with plenty to choose from. There are lots of restaurants nearby and the main roads are easy to get to. The underground car park next door costs less than two euros overnight. If you’re travelling alone and don’t mind a small room, ask about the attic rooms. Their window is a lovely spot to sit, read, or just look outside.

The location worked well for us: the Altstadt is only a few blocks away, while the hotel itself stays clear of the noise. Our room was clean, and we were happy with the space, cleanliness, and breakfast. There were plenty of towels and pillows, plus several electrical outlets, which made it stand out from other inns and hotels.

The walk to Plassenburg starts nearby, and I liked the location. The room was okay, though breakfast was average and I’d suggest eating elsewhere. The woman at check-in wasn’t especially friendly, but the rest of the staff were very nice.

The location was really good, and the staff were all friendly. We slept well, enjoyed the tasty breakfast, and thought the price was fair. It suited our needs well, and I’d definitely come back. A few things to know: some rooms, especially the toilets, may feel small. There’s nowhere nearby to buy snacks or drinks in the evening, and €2.20 for a 0.2 Coca-Cola from the minibar is a lot. The TV channels are all in German. I also hope the bathroom fan gets its own switch by the time I return, since it’s very loud.
