Gasthof Engel Steinbach

The rooms are clean and looked after, and drinks don't cost much. The traditional German food was delicious.

Dinner was genuinely good, and the owner is extremely kind. If you need something, you can just ring for him. Still, a few things made the stay difficult. My room hadn't been cleaned properly. With my dust mite allergy, that was a real issue, and on the first night I had to wipe down every surface myself so I could breathe. The rooms are also incredibly noisy. You hear everything your neighbor does, so setting your own alarm feels pointless 😂 Breakfast was disappointing too. The muesli seemed not to be replaced often, and what I tried was so stale it was almost inedible. Every cream cheese packet was six months past its date, and the yogurts were nearly two weeks out of date 😫 The honey was so hard you could practically kill someone with it. Apart from that, it's a really good hotel for an overnight stay, especially for work 😊❤️

The hosts were super friendly and accommodating. Breakfast had a varied selection, and there was plenty of it. Our room was clean, and the mattresses were comfortable.

The chef came out while the food was being served, and was friendly and happy to explain exactly what was in each dish. We were there for a weekend party, and the inn handled the catering. Everything tasted excellent, with lots of variety. The only thing was, he didn't write down the recipe for us...
