Benz - Das Weinhotel

There's a lot to like in the basics: the hilltop setting has a lovely view, the apartment is large, and there is good Wi-Fi. In the basement, we found a meeting spot with a self-service wine fridge and notes, plus a nice bar and lounge area and bookshelves. The furniture is simple and not especially thoughtfully arranged. Towels were changed only partly, and there was no cleaning. We would have liked to feel more welcome as visitors to a winery. Tastings on site should be encouraged, but when we asked if the terrace might open, the answer was a firm no. The hotel wine shop wasn't operating, and the terrace wasn't invitingly furnished. The winery's shop and terrace were also closed despite good weather. We wanted to try the wines, but felt so unwelcome that we went hiking and visited other places instead, including Josef's Weinbar and Lauerbach. The apartment kitchen needs better equipment: there were no spatulas, mugs, a good pan, pot holders, salad servers, or knives, among other things. There weren't enough dishes and cutlery to run the dishwasher properly. The wine hike costs 30 €/person and includes a sparkling wine, about 0.05 l, two wines in roughly similar quantities, a pretzel and sandwich, and a guided walk through fields and meadows with the owner. He was very friendly and answered all our questions kindly. It's a good chance to learn about the wine selection, so please make use of that opportunity in future 🥂 For a wine hotel, I wish there were more interest in visitors. To earn more stars, I think the place simply needs to show genuine interest in its guests. Good luck 🍀🍀🍀

The wine is superb and fully recommended. Breakfast was nice, and the rooms were good and clean, but the value for money just doesn't add up.

The rooms are nice and breakfast decent. It's right in town, and the associated winery has excellent wines across the board. Highly recommended!
