Essential by Dorint Stuttgart/Airport

We'd traveled around Germany and Austria and stayed in all sorts of places, so we were pleasantly surprised when we arrived here. The front desk staff were warm and very helpful as we planned the excursions we'd hoped to do. They also offer chilled flavored water in reception. Our room and bathroom were clean and well laid out, the sheets felt crisp, and extra pillows were available. The plugs by the bedside table were handy, and we felt safe using the parking garage. Highly recommend.

I had two serious problems. First, when we pointed out that our rooms hadn't been cleaned, the response was that the cleaning team was provided by an outside company. We pay the hotel, so surely the hotel is responsible. Second, we wanted to pay the bill for three rooms the night before our early departure. Another staff member had told us the night shift could handle it. The female employee on the night shift on 10 February 2026 refused at first and became very angry, aggressive, and insulting. She took 30 minutes to process the payment, while speaking loudly in another language and cursing, and made two mistakes. I've never experienced anything like it. I feel sorry for the hotel that someone with this attitude represents reception, and she should be taken out of a guest-facing role.

I stayed for a week, and it was a disaster. A room service man suddenly opened my door twice while I was inside, without asking if he could come in. I called reception, but they didn't give me useful feedback or take good action. Room cleaning was poor too. They only clean if you hang the door label, but once I did that and went out for five hours, I came back to an untouched room. Reception offered me a free drink instead of arranging a cleaning. Was that drink supposed to clean my room?! The breakfast menu never changed from day to day. The hotel is also far from anything, with only an Indian restaurant nearby. I ordered pasta from the hotel restaurant once, and it was very basic and had no flavor. And the pillows were awful. Use them if you want a neck ache! I won't be back 👎🏼

The train connections to Stuttgart and the airport are convenient. When I arrived, the restaurant was very short-staffed, but the employees were helpful. The food was decent, the bar was there, and the rooms were fine. Cheap and cheerful for a short stay.
