Martins Klause Airport Messe Hotel

The owner invited me to breakfast, which was brilliant, and the bed was great. It was a quiet weekend, and the place felt super clean, cozy and family-run. The interior isn't modern, but that's exactly what gives it such a nice atmosphere. One thing to be aware of: the airport runway points toward the hotel, and with the unusually western wind, there's definitely serious noise starting at 6am.

The rooms were clean, housekeeping came daily, the staff were nice, and breakfast was a decent continental spread. But the room was tiny even though we asked for a larger one, and the street-facing side was hot and noisy. Other guests gathered outside late, talking loudly and smoking. The manager lives on the property, so I don't know why she didn't ask them to quiet down at 11:30 pm. Smoke from balconies gets into the rooms, even those marked nonsmoking, which smell of smoke anyway. There's no air conditioning on the sunny side, and our room was hot even in spring with the windows open. We won't stay again.

Breakfast was good and the people were friendly, but I'd advise spending more and sleeping somewhere else. The room was clean, though the mattress was very soft, and noise meant we had to sleep with the airco on. The bar next door was noisy in the evening and airplanes in the morning. We arrived after 23u, and since reception closes at 20u, had to check in by machine. Parking is shared with the bar, so spaces are limited and you may need to park on the street.

The room itself is nice, the sound isolation is good despite the nearby airport, and the location is convenient. If all you need is a room, I would recommend it. But I wouldn't stay here expecting a normal or good breakfast. Breakfast was included when we booked, but it was just bread, coffee, tea, tiny 5g portions of jam and Nutella, some cheese and a few pieces of meat. I don't eat bread or meat in the morning, and although I do like cheese, I rarely eat it. So I ended up with coffee and tea and bread with jam or Nutella, which I don't like in the morning. I DO NOT EAT BREAD IN THE MORNING! It doesn't cost 8 euro. Our German neighbor got fried eggs, something I also usually eat in the morning, but nobody even offered them to us. There was no choice, they just brought the food and that was it, whether you're vegan, vegetarian or eat everything. I felt discriminated against because of my nationality.
