Parking takes some effort, both in the hotel’s underground garage and around the neighborhood. The staff seemed a bit uninterested, though they were still pleasant enough. The rooms are okay, but feel expensive for what’s included, and breakfast is much the same.

The room’s layout was the first problem. It was listed as an 18 m² “comfort double” with a desk and seating area, but felt like a cramped storage room. The desk and chair were pushed against the bed, leaving nowhere useful to sit or work, the courtyard view was just another building’s back wall, and the bedding didn’t fit properly. What really made the stay miserable was how I was treated. When I brought up the room, receptionist E. Schultz became hostile and made things worse instead of helping. She called me a liar to my face. I’ve never had a hospitality worker seem so intent on making a guest’s situation harder. It was humiliating and unsettling. Manager Lucas was cold and showed no interest in sorting it out. One receptionist, who checked me in the previous day, was kind and understanding. She recognized the problems and said she wanted to help when the manager was available, but what happened afterward wiped out that goodwill. The hotel’s polished branding and curated photos don’t match the cramped, uncomfortable room or the feeling that guests are an inconvenience. This was one of my most unpleasant hotel stays, and I strongly recommend booking somewhere else.

I can’t wait to leave in the morning. I’ve never dealt with such an argumentative receptionist at check-in. German guests were given maps and seemed to get friendly service, while we were handed our keys and pointed to the lift. I already had a space outside and was asking for parking advice. The receptionist immediately asked whether I’d reserved; when I said no, she told me to use a garage half a mile away and said the street parking was for residents only. A kind man at the parking meter explained what I needed to do, and I got it sorted. When I came back and suggested staff tell guests that the machines have English instructions, she launched into a full-scale argument. I asked for the manager and was told nobody else was there. To clarify, I never asked her to get me a parking ticket. I asked for advice, but she only pointed me to the multistorey car park. I tried to book a space, but was told first that I was too early, then later that I was too late. Street parking is available. Staff need proper training to help guests, especially those who don’t speak German.

Breakfast was fresh, tasty, and had a wide choice of good quality cold and savoury food. Nothing seemed to run out. Staff were very nice and efficient, and the hotel was quiet and comfortable. It’s modern, clean, and in a safe central area, within walking distance of the old town and central station. The place isn’t large, but it’s well arranged and pleasant. My room had enough space and all the essentials, including tea and coffee, useful storage, a couch, safe, fridge, and well kept furniture. It was spotless, with good bathroom products and options to help the environment. I’d definitely recommend it.

We spent two nights here and really enjoyed the trip. The bed was very comfortable, and the room had enough space for two adults and our 3-year-old. The famous Zoo is only a five-minute walk away. We came by train and took the tram afterward. The staff were lovely, and even vegan guests can find something at the generous breakfast table. We’d choose this hotel again. ;)
