H4 Hotel Leipzig

Getting here from the motorway was easy, and there’s a large free car park beside the hotel. It’s on the outskirts of the city, which worked well for us. The interiors are spacious and elegantly finished, and everything was very clean. Our room was large, with comfortable beds for both adults and children. Service at reception and breakfast was great, and the breakfast was tasty and varied.

Great breakfast, a nice sauna, and a clean, comfortable room. The reception staff were helpful, especially Ms Magdalena. Just perfect.

At checkout, the hotel messaged us saying we owed 350 EU for room damage. We didn’t pay, but it took several frustrating hours after my holiday to resolve the issue. I hadn’t caused the damage, and we’d paid a significant amount to stay there. The hotel should inspect rooms properly before the next guest arrives rather than blame someone without evidence. When I checked in, there was a small hole in the wall that caused no inconvenience, and a broken chair leaning against the wall/window so it looked undamaged. When I tried to sit on it, one leg gave way and I nearly fell. I wasn’t planning to use the chair, so I went to bed and didn’t report it. I assumed the hotel knew it was broken, since it should have been obvious, especially to housekeeping. Apparently I should’ve reported the hole too. Are guests expected to inspect every inch of a room on arrival? The hotel was lucky nobody got hurt, particularly an elderly guest. How is it acceptable to place a broken chair that way? For future guests, I’d report every bit of damage at check-in, even a small bump in the wall that doesn’t affect your stay. Otherwise, the hotel might bill you after checkout for damage you didn’t cause. I’ve never had this happen at another hotel, so I wonder if this could be a deliberate way for them to get extra money.

The restaurant served tasty dinners, and our new room was very comfortable, with good bed linen and pillows. The hotel is far from the city center, but for us that was a benefit.
