Hostel Multitude

The layout makes this hostel feel cozy and social. It’s a rearranged house, divided into areas that used to be separate flats, so it’s easy to meet and chat with other people. There’s also a downstairs bar that Leipzig locals visit a lot, which makes it easy to connect with them. This really does feel like hostel culture. The young staff are busy all day trying to keep things in order. At times, though, they seem affected by difficult experiences from the past, and some come across as depressed or a bit paranoid. I also sensed particular resentment toward men, perhaps because of bad past experiences, mixed with what seems to be an uneducated idea of “Wokeism” that’s popular in parts of the city. That isn’t necessarily a problem, but as a man traveling alone, the combination might make you feel like you’re walking on eggshells.
