TOWNHOUSE Leipzig

The location is premium, but that alone didn’t make for a pleasant stay. I’ve been a loyal TOWNHOUSE guest and chose the brand in Leipzig without hesitation, even though other The Management Symphony members stayed elsewhere. Yet the same points raised in a review at the end of July about service and staff needing more attention still described my stay two months later. Personnel are the issue, and I’ll explain more in a letter to the hotel owner. It’s a shame, but I won’t come back unless the attitude toward guests changes.

The room was spacious and had a small, equipped kitchen, though it would have been useful to have a kitchen cloth or towel. What really stood out was the lovely old town location, right across from the Thomas Kirche. The boutique hotel also has a warmly designed lobby, library and sitting room, plus a breakfast restaurant. One thing to know: after 11.00hrs, the restaurant has no lights on, so from outside the place looks gloomy and deserted, almost as if it’s closed. I’d strongly suggest leaving the lights on to make it feel welcoming.

You sleep surrounded by Bach’s cantata, and the musical decor adds to the experience. The hotel is spotless, and the sauna was a pleasant surprise. Right across from St Thomas church, its setting makes the stay feel like a lasting experience. A room facing directly toward the Church takes it to another level.

Breakfast, rooms, service, and location were all amazing. This has become our new benchmark for a great hotel. If you can, get a room facing Thomaskirche. JSB will be looking back at you, which is kind of the point of being in Leipzig, isn’t it?
