Leipzig Marriott Hotel

The room hadn't been properly cleaned before I checked in. The previous guest's sock was still under the chair, and there was an obvious bit of dust on the pillow. The location near the central train station is great, but the cleaning was disappointing.

The staff were kind and helpful whenever we needed anything, and we enjoyed our three-day stay. The rooms are roomy, the beds are comfortable, and the bathroom has plenty of counter space for more than one person. The built-in hair dryer didn't work properly, though, and the bathroom outlet kept cutting out, so I had to plug in my flat iron elsewhere in the room. Parking was a hassle. We had to drive into a cramped underground garage and look for the Marriott logo to find the right spaces. It was also confusing at first to work out which elevator led from the garage into the hotel. The bathtub/shower curves upward and is narrow, so standing in it meant keeping my feet in an uncomfortable position. Those issues weren't deal breakers. The location is really convenient, right in the town center near shops and bakeries. At night, the Welcome to Leipzig sign lights up just outside our window, which was neat and added something to the stay. I'd definitely stay here again.

I have coeliac disease, and there wasn't much food that was safe from cross-contamination. Grit V. was incredibly kind and helpful at the breakfast buffet restaurant, though. She spoke with the kitchen ahead of time so they could prepare something separately for me.

For several years, I stayed here two weeks every month. It felt like a home from home. The breakfast is the best I've had, and on weekends it turns into brunch. The hotel is ideally placed for the city, close to everything, and the front desk staff are always lovely and helpful.
