I didn’t feel safe here. There was no staff on site, and it’s managed from an office in Berlin, so any problems may take a day to sort out, or longer. Staff didn’t answer the phone, though they did reply on booking.com, only to tell me to wait 24 hours for a fix. That felt pointless 😹 The room I got was smaller than the one described. It had no heating, no working safe, a broken bed/sofa and no bed sheets. It could have been cleaner, though I’ve seen worse. I’m still waiting for my deposit refund. Calling it “Managed” doesn’t seem to fit the business very well.

The security arrangements were alarming: room 303 used the door code 3003. That alone says a lot about how carelessly guest safety was handled. When I arrived at 10 p.m., the room was dirty, with hamburgers on the floor. I called several times until 1 a.m. to ask for it to be cleaned. Each time I was told, “we’re going to check,” but nobody came. The next day, the cleaning staff said they couldn’t get into the room the night before. That wasn’t my fault. I spent hours contacting the property and Booking.com, paid for the calls and got no useful help. After waiting three weeks for the €173 reimbursement for my two-night stay, I got just €13 as “compensation.” Booking.com says it needs the property’s confirmation to refund me, but the property still gives no response beyond “we’re going to check.” This isn’t a proper hotel, and the customer service is nonexistent. Avoid it at all costs.

I booked another place that day, even though it was non-refundable, because I couldn’t lock the door and no longer felt safe staying at Yuma Studio. Airbnb support is refunding only 50% of the nights I didn’t use, which feels completely inadequate given everything that happened. The host still hasn’t identified the people who entered my apartment, and that leaves me very uncomfortable. The smart lock on the main door kept malfunctioning. On arrival, I struggled to open it from outside with the card, though I eventually got in, then realized it had stayed unlocked all night. Later, I couldn’t lock it from either side, so I couldn’t safely leave. I had to cancel a very important appointment. Wi-Fi and the TV weren’t working either, but I chose not to raise those since they weren’t priorities. I also had no mobile reception in the room. On my first morning, while I was asleep, a couple knocked and then came in without my consent or any advance notice. They didn’t identify themselves and said they were bringing a comforter for the bed. That made me feel extremely uncomfortable and unsafe. Later that day, another person managed to open the still-faulty door. I heard it open, and they must have realized the studio was occupied and left. I asked Julian (the host) for help around 3 p.m. that day, but he never explained what was being done. The following morning around 11, a man knocked and came in through the open door, saying he was there to change the lock. He returned at noon to replace it. Julian had promised to update me about next steps, but I hadn’t been told about this visit. I was on an important work call involving confidential information, so having an unknown man changing the lock during it felt extremely uncomfortable and unprofessional. I was in a ground-floor studio, and the upstairs neighbor’s toilet flush was extremely loud every time they used it. The whole stay was very stressful and far below expectations. Based on what happened, I wouldn’t recommend Yuma Studio.

This is a managed apartment, not a hotel. The room is nicely decorated and just the right size, with what one person or a couple needs. You can pay extra for towel or linen changes, whether you’re staying two nights or two months. There’s no gym or shared social area for meeting other residents. There is a common kitchen by the entrance, though nobody seems to use it.

The location was a real plus, just a few minutes’ walk from the main train station. My room was spacious, nicely decorated and had all the essentials, plus a bit more. The woman in charge talked me through check-in step by step over the phone, and there’s a washer and dryer room on the third floor. Noise from some neighbors was the main thing that bothered me. I couldn’t tell whether the banging came from upstairs or the same floor, and I wished there were someone on site to complain to. Garbage sometimes piled up outside the bins. I’m not sure whether that was the hotel’s responsibility or a municipality issue, and residents also share some of the blame for not securing their rubbish properly.
