Hotel Bayerischer Hof

The hotel has some charm, and the rooms were comfortable enough, with traditional antique-style furnishings. But it feels dated and could use renovation and modernization in several areas. I had fairly high expectations because of the Bayerhof Hotel name, and the stay was pleasant, but for the high rates I expected more. The lake nearby wasn’t especially appealing compared with other lakes I’ve visited. What surprised me most was the noise at night: on several occasions, people came onto the property late and visibly drunk, talking loudly and disturbing the otherwise peaceful atmosphere. That wasn’t what I expected from a hotel in this category. There are good points, including the traditional character and comfortable rooms, but I think there’s significant room to improve for the price.

The location is hard to beat, right opposite the train station. Breakfast was excellent, with lots of choices, and the view over the lake and harbor is beautiful from the right table. The chandeliers are lovely too. The room was a good size, with a nice bathroom and seating area, but the bed was incredibly hard, so I slept badly both nights. It was meant to be a double, but was two single beds and duvets pushed together, which wasn’t very romantic. There was no air conditioning, and on the third floor with only a small window, the room was uncomfortably warm at night. The shower temperature kept changing even during a short shower, and the toilet seat wasn’t soft close. The sauna was open on only one of the two nights we stayed, and the “heated” pool was decidedly cold.

Exploring the old town and then relaxing by the harbor was lovely, and the lighthouse view from our room was unforgettable. Hotel Bayerischer Hof felt elegant, clean, and full of classic charm. Some traditional hotels can feel too formal, but here we felt comfortable and well looked after. It may be the most beautiful hotel in Lindau. Breakfast was simple, with just what you need, and everything was delicious. The bathroom wasn’t fully modern, but it caused no real inconvenience. I highly recommend it for its location and the experience, and sincerely hope to return. Thank you!

The best thing here is the setting on Lindau Isle harbour, with a splendid view toward the south-east bank of Bodensee. The shoreline is lovely for short walks, with nature, beautiful Bavarian architecture, and a cool breeze off the lake. The hotel has a nice cafe and bar opening onto the promenade, where you can enjoy the harbor view with a beer. The rooms are bright, neat, and comfortable, and the property meets high accommodation standards. Breakfast is a tasty self-service buffet with plenty of choice. A place I can recommend without hesitation.
