Hotel Alpina

I was there on business, and it felt more like a guesthouse than a hotel. Parking right outside was handy. When I arrived, they asked what time I wanted breakfast. I made the mistake of leaving eight minutes early. The whole place was locked, so I knocked on the guest room door and called, “Hello.” No one answered, and I was left alone in the locked hallway. Exactly eight minutes later, an extremely unfriendly woman came in and hissed at me to be quiet. Breakfast, she said, wasn’t served until the time I’d requested. I left the building straight away and won’t be coming back. The staff’s customer service tone is hard to match. Definitely not recommended!!!

The woman who welcomes guests is what makes this hotel special. She’s the heart of the place, with a warmth and friendliness I haven’t found elsewhere in a hotel. The coffee was delicious too, and she deserves 10 stars for her big heart. I stayed five nights. It’s a small, charming hotel, recently renovated with care, especially noticeable in the dining room. Everything was very clean, the beds were comfortable, breakfast was good, and rooms 2 to 4 have great views. I was thrilled with the stay and will come back every year as long as she’s still working there. Thank you for a wonderful time. Hotel: 4 stars.

We’ve been spending our summer holidays at Hotel Alpina for years, and always feel at ease there. Matko, our host from Croatia, makes the stay extra special. Every request, including at breakfast, was taken care of. Fried or scrambled eggs, with or without bacon, were no problem for chef Neno. Thanks so much! The rooms have large LED TVs, which is great. Nada is the friendliest person at the hotel, and our holiday wouldn’t be half as good without her. The views of the Alps from the rooms are breathtaking, and the windows are well insulated. We paid €110 for one night in the comfort room, which felt quite expensive. It was on the ground floor facing the courtyard. The owner wasn’t especially friendly and told us breakfast wouldn’t be served the next morning. A cockroach greeted us on the bed, though it could have wandered in. One star for the clean bathroom.
