I booked a holiday apartment, but during my second week I was moved into what felt like a better storage room, after having a nice apartment in the first week. The landlady was friendly at first, then it seemed she'd found someone willing to pay more.

The apartment had no sofa or proper place to sit and relax, just a few plastic chairs. There were about 25 spiders, plenty of dirt and dust, and sticky light switches. This was advertised as a “Deluxe Apartment” and cost almost €100 a night, though it felt like a €25 worker's lodging that not even an apprentice would choose. We wanted a larger place with a fridge and kitchenette, and thought it sounded perfect, but I feel completely ripped off. Booking.com shows it with 9,000 stars and mountain ratings, the sort of scores five-star hotels would envy. That makes no sense to me and seems fake. I'll never book through Booking.com again without checking Google reviews first. Never book here. This is a complete scam.

The landlady was nice, and at €30 the stay was perfectly fine. Wi-Fi was free, and paying by debit card was possible. I stayed overnight on December 11, 2013. The only things that bothered me a little were limescale in the shower and mold in the shower cubicle.

They skimp on the heating. Even after you're given the room keys, a woman comes in and switches off the radiators.
