Hotel Holzscheiter

The room and its view gave us a chance to finally relax, and the village felt quaint and lovely, like a movie setting. We especially enjoyed hearing the church bells. The staff at Hotel Holzscheiter were kind and understanding about my limited German, and our key was ready in a lockbox since we knew we’d arrive late. We got there at midnight after a miserable trip from the US through London to Zurich: both flights were delayed, our two bags were sent to different places far away, and Enterprise canceled our car reservation when we were three hours late. We didn’t get to try breakfast, though I imagine it would’ve been as satisfying as the rest of the stay. Hotel Holzscheiter and its staff turned a very rough start around for us. I hope we can come back.

We couldn't stay for the whole time we'd booked because our flights were messed up on the way there. Once we managed to call, the staff were incredibly helpful and understanding. Breakfast was delicious, and even though I arrived late, they still accommodated me. The hotel and staff were amazing.

Finding such a distinctive place in a tiny village was a lovely surprise. The hotel has a welcoming feel, with simple, elegant decor that's minimalist and a little quirky. Our room was spacious, clean, and lovely, and breakfast was plentiful and European-style.

There were a few hassles, but otherwise it was okay. The reception is in a different part of the hotel, and with nothing written in English, I struggled to find it. They said there was internet, but after I joined the network there was no connection. There are also lots of stairs, which are difficult with heavy luggage.
