SPREE.Hotel in der Altstadt

We had a lovely vacation at Ebusch and hope to come back soon. It's peaceful and beautiful in Lubbenau, and Ebusch is close to the center while still keeping a very high standard, better than the other hotels we stayed at in big cities. The staff were lovely, welcoming, and focused on service. The room had a nice countryside view and a soothing feel; the bed was comfortable, and the bathroom was big, clean, and luxurious. Breakfast had all kinds of food, and it was fresh and delicious. Covid precautions were handled well: things were clean, everyone wore masks and kept their distance, and guest breakfast times were staggered so the buffet didn't get crowded. Thank you for a lovely stay.

The curtains let in all the light, despite the room needing blackout drapes. There's plenty of natural light this far north, except for a few precious hours, and street lighting adds to it. Sleep was hard enough already, but the air conditioner made a horrible farting noise every three or four minutes, even 20 minutes after I turned it completely off. The window screens have holes, so a mosquito got into our room. A vacuum cleaner sat in the hallway all afternoon for no apparent reason. The dining room music was Muzak that made me want to cry tears of snot into my breakfast cereal, and the garbage coming through the television in the same room fit right in. The bathroom light switch is in the bedroom, so turning on the bathroom light wakes your partner twice, assuming he has managed to fall asleep in this room that seems designed to prevent it.

The owners were very friendly and helped arrange canoe and bike rentals before we arrived. Our room, the Goldenes Zimmer, worked for two adults and two kids, though its layout was very unusual. Breakfast was excellent in quality, quantity, and variety. Ebusch isn't representative of the town, which is a bit of a backwater apart from the Schloss. You come for the natural beauty, and it's nice to have a good hotel to retreat to after possibly experiencing the Servicewüste elsewhere during the day.

The rooms have been newly renovated, and the little hotel has a lot of charm. We enjoyed our two nights there. The bathrooms could be a bit bigger, though. I'd definitely recommend it.
