Mercure Hotel Luebeck City Center

It's very convenient, with sightseeing spots and restaurants close by, and across from the central train station. Even so, it was quiet. Parking is free for guests. The modern interiors were clean, and the family room was just the right size for the four of us.

The corridors had a powerful, unpleasant mold smell, and the hotel was dirty throughout. The staff were incredibly rude, with customer service that felt nonexistent. Maintenance and guest satisfaction clearly don't seem to be priorities. For the location and brand, I expected much better from Mercure Lübeck near ZOB. Save your money and stay somewhere else in Lübeck. Definitely not recommended.

The location is a 10/10, right across from the main station and nearly all the bus lines. My room faced the back courtyard, so it stayed quiet at night, and it was roomy and comfortable for a few nights. The Wi-Fi was the worst I’ve ever had: both password-free networks kept dropping and vanishing on all three of my devices. Reception only suggested unplugging and reconnecting the TV, which did nothing, and the staff weren’t especially friendly. Each room gets a glass bottle to refill downstairs with filtered water, but mine was filthy inside. When I asked for a clean one, they handed me another dirty bottle and said the debris came from the dishwasher.

Breakfast was good, and it’s handy being near the old city and right beside the train station. The downside is that rooms facing the road get noisy with the windows open.
