Hotel Jensen

We picked Hotel Jensen for the location and price, and got much more than we expected. The restaurant was excellent for lunch or dinner, and the breakfast setup and service were the best we could have asked for. The breakfast matron even put together an outstanding package of food for our early-morning departure. Staff were prompt, professional, and friendly.

Fish on the dinner menu can leave the hotel hallways smelling of fish, sometimes even into the morning. Parking worked well for us, with private spaces in a nearby garage about a five-minute walk away. This is a casual, gemütlich hotel that isn’t very touristy. It’s no longer a small family hotel, but its average size feels just right for Lübeck. Our family room was pleasant and roomy enough for three, and having a second bedroom was a good feature. The main drawback was that it got rather hot, with no air conditioning. The separate toilet and bathroom were functional. Breakfast downstairs had an adequate choice of bread, yoghurt, and cereals, and the friendly staff did everything they could to make it a good experience.

The rooms were simple and comfortable, and breakfast was nice. The location was excellent, with cheap hotel parking nearby. Customer service was amazingly considerate and friendly, which pleasantly surprised me. Even my dog got a snack!

The service was welcoming and attentive, and we had no trouble finding parking or somewhere to eat. The hotel is centrally located, with a beautiful view of a gate and the river. It was mentioned in documents, and became a hotel soon after, before Columbus discovered America. How cool :). The rooms are cozy and simple.
