DORMERO Hotel Bergström Lüneburg

I spent seven days here while visiting my partner’s family. The location and value were lovely, and the room was clean and spacious. The staff came across as a little cold and not very welcoming, maybe it’s a cultural difference, but they seemed to stare without interacting much. The underground parking is also very narrow, so driving through is difficult. Still, I’d stay again for the location and price, probably within the next couple of years. I can’t complain beyond that.

We had a great time in room 410, with its beautiful view of the old town. The hotel from the show Rote Rosen is close to the old town, so everything is within walking distance. Breakfast was great, and we played cards outside on the deck connected to the bar in the evening. The bed was a bit soft.

This didn’t meet a four-star standard. We only stayed one night, and the parking trouble started before check-in: there was no space at the EV charger out front, so staff sent us to both garages to look for charging points, but we couldn’t find any. Both garages are narrow, especially the one farther from reception, which was almost impossible to navigate safely in our SUV. The front desk agent was courteous, but alone and completely overwhelmed by check-ins and guest requests. Our room had a lovely view but badly needed renovation. One side of the bed tilted down, and there were only two small pillows. I had to go back to reception because there was no phone in the room, then wait about 90 minutes for two more pillows. The bathrobes had broken belt loops and looked old and worn. The bathroom had soap and a shower cap, but no body lotion. The breakfast buffet was nice, and being able to order a custom omelet was a plus.

The location is great, but the rooms are poorly maintained. My parents stayed there, and my father was charged twice by mistake, once by the booking website and once by the hotel. It took months and many emails to get the money refunded by the hotel. No one ever bothered to call us.
