Hotel Irmchen

The staff are kind, and breakfast is fabulous. It’s a charming little independent hotel, and getting to Frankfurt airport by train is easy. You can also enjoy a walk down to the park and the riverside bike and walking path. I arrived from America jet-lagged, and staying here made for a calm, lovely introduction to a new country.

On my first trip to Germany, I stayed here while visiting family and felt right at home. I loved the hotel’s history, and the employees were all friendly, greeting guests with “Good Morning” each day. Breakfast was always fresh, with plenty to eat. I’d highly recommend staying here.

This hotel won’t suit everyone. There’s no air conditioning, pool or after-hours service. But it has more character and warmth than almost anywhere I’ve stayed. It’s odd, sure, but in a lovely way. I spent a delightful, eccentric week here on business. The service and breakfast are hard to beat this side of Ursa Minor. The train station is two minutes away, with a direct train to Frankfurt every hour. For dinner, the best options are by the river, and Zum Schiffchen is highly recommended.

We’re a family of five and have stayed here twice, once when arriving in Frankfurt and once on departure day. It’s 25 minutes from the airport. The place is very cosy, with a classic style, and the host was super nice and attentive. Breakfast was generous and heartfelt, including eggs made to order. It’s clear the Irmchen family have been doing this for a long time and do it very well.
