Hotel Krone

Hotel Krone is in a lovely spot in the old town and works well for a short overnight stay. The owner is very friendly and always up for a chat. Breakfast is brief, but I’d recommend it. The adjoining restaurant is also well worth a visit, especially in late summer or during grape harvest. The courtyard is full of grapevines, and the seasonal menus are a real treat. The problem is the interior, which is why I’ve taken off two stars. The decor is dated and badly needs renovation. Bathrooms and other areas are very old, and some parts felt unhygienic. I’ve included photos of the accommodation too.

I had to give this one star. There was dirt throughout the room, especially in the corners and by the head of the bed, so I cleaned it myself just to be able to sleep. The shower was moldy and its cubicle broken. The toilet seat was broken and moldy too.

Breakfast was average, and parking was hit or miss. The rooms feel straight out of the 70s, and the shower needs renovation. Wi-Fi was so-so, while the TV channels depended on whether the CI module was working.

A lovely old farmhouse, really good.
