I have never felt less welcome. The accommodation itself was fine, but the way we were treated left a very different impression. We booked one night through Blue Pillow, where a one-night stay was available and pets were allowed. The phone number listed didn't get an answer, and only after a frustrating search did we find a working number. On that first call, the landlady sounded clearly annoyed. We called to give our 6:20 p.m. arrival time as the booking system required, but the welcome was icy and basically amounted to, "I'll charge you 10 euros for the dog." We paid without complaint. The 5-kilo miniature dog slept in the bed as he does at home. We checked out before 11 a.m., as the Blue Pillow terms said, and not a minute late, yet there wasn't even a "Good morning" or "Have a good trip." If an owner doesn't want one-night bookings, they need to make those bookings unavailable. Guests who simply book what the system offers shouldn't be met with rudeness, grumpiness, and curt replies. There was no hospitality or warmth, and none of the cheerful Rhineland spirit, just the cold of the Eifel region.
