Best Western Hotel Halle-Merseburg

The food was okay, and the rooms, pool, and amenities were excellent. The snackbar service, though, was a real Falty-Towers-level mess. They got our order wrong several times, took forever to bring a menu, and delivered dishes to the wrong table.

The staff were extremely helpful and friendly, and the room was well equipped, with a very comfortable bed and facilities for making tea and coffee. Breakfast had a good selection. It's a nice, easy-to-reach hotel. There aren't many parking spaces outside, but there is an underground garage.

If you work nearby, it might be okay, but otherwise I'd skip it. The rooms are clean and spacious, and breakfast is good. They have a fridge and kettle, though parking costs extra. The bed is very small, and the old mattress has sagged and isn't flat anymore. Rooms get extremely hot, with no air conditioning. Even in midsummer, the ventilation circulates hot air, so when it's 30°C outside, the room can reach 38°C. I complained several times, but they kept saying it was meant to be that way and was okay. Dinner at the restaurant is extremely expensive, the portions are small, and the food is average at best.

The room was clean, though the bathroom could have used another cleaning. We booked for the pool, but when we arrived it was being used for morning gymnastics, and we weren't allowed to join. The employees were very unhelpful. They checked us in without mentioning the extra parking charge or breakfast hours, and didn't even tell us where our room was. A very disappointing stay, and I won't stay at this hotel again.
