Gastehaus Am Bodensee

The lake view across to Switzerland is magnificent and wonderfully relaxing. Guests can enjoy an exclusive garden with a small beach and jetty into the water, plus plenty of loungers and garden chairs. On sunny days, breakfast on the lovely terrace is a great start. Parking is assigned and right by the house. All in all, satisfactory.

We'd never been to Lake Constance or Dikreuters before, and everything matched the website description. The lake view and water access were lovely, and there was a farm shop as well as a drinks fridge with friendly, fair prices. The rooms were newly renovated and very clean, the beds had excellent mattresses, and the cleaning staff were super friendly. Breakfast was really good, with lots of variety. Everything was fine, but room 5 had an extremely small closet. It might work for a few days, but for a stay over a week it was a real problem, especially since there wasn't even space to hang a dress. I mentioned this as constructive feedback on our first day, but after that we felt they didn't talk to us much. The hotel has many regular guests, which says a lot about how good it is. Still, new guests should be looked after too, especially as the regular guests are already quite elderly and may not keep coming forever. That's just how it seemed to us. Maybe we're used to more interaction: at other guesthouses, someone would have a quick, informative chat with everyone about outings and events in the morning, or we'd have coffee together in the afternoon or a glass of wine in the evening. But as people in Cologne say, everyone's different. We're grown up, so we got through the stay just fine.

Direct access to the lake, a garden with lots of loungers, drinks for sale, and a fantastic farm shop made our stay even better. The hosts were welcoming, and the breakfast buffet was delicious. If the weather's good, you can enjoy a sunny spot on the balcony with a stunning lake view. The rooms, apartments, and holiday homes are tastefully furnished, with dedicated parking. Restaurants, shops, and bus stops are all within walking distance. It was wonderful, couldn't ask for more!

We felt very at home in this family-run guesthouse. Our room looked straight out over Lake Constance, and the breakfast buffet had a great selection. We'll definitely return.
