Waldhotel Schäferberg

The breakfast was varied and tasty, and I was satisfied with my room during a week-long stay. The bathroom was clean and the bed comfortable. There was also a refrigerator, and the WiFi signal covered the room perfectly.

The showers were a real treat on the road, with great pressure and lots of hot water. The place was very clean, friendly, and good quality. It's easy to reach and park just off a main road, and makes a good base for Kassel and Wilhelmshöhe, with Hercules and plenty of forests nearby.

Breakfast costs under 5euro and offers a huge selection, and there's also a full bar open late. The rooms are large and well equipped, with excellent free WiFi. It's a rural country hotel that seems popular for weddings and business seminars. Finding the entrance and parking can be a bit confusing, though there's plenty of parking. It's family run, with traditional service. Recommended if you're touring the area.

The staff were far more helpful and friendly than we'd expected, and the clean, pleasant room was enough for our two-night stay, even though it was small by Canadian standards. We booked at short notice for a leisure trip to explore Kassel and had a very positive experience. Breakfast and supper buffets were outstanding. On Wednesdays, wine was included with the supper buffet, and there was entertainment at the hotel, including a pool table. There's lots of parking and an awesome butcher shop right beside it. You'll need a car because it's a bit far from downtown and most attractions, apart from Schloss Wilhelmstal. We'd book again.
