Holiday Inn Express & Suites Monheim Am Rhein by IHG

Ms. Floriana made booking easy by being exceptionally kind and helpful in English. My room was lovely, very warm and comfortable. The parking is on the street and unsecured, costs €12.50, and there wasn’t a dedicated disabled spot near the entrance during my stay. That made things challenging with my mobility needs, especially in the winter weather. I also felt the staff could have been more empathetic and flexible, such as when I made simple requests to heat milk at breakfast, and they could have offered more help proactively. Still, if you want a hotel with warm, high-quality rooms and a great booking experience, this is a very good option. I had a pleasant stay thanks to the room quality and the initial service from Ms. Floriana.

At around 3:00 am I arrived with a confirmed booking and politely asked to check in early, saying I was happy to pay any fee. They refused, which I understand might depend on availability, but the way they dealt with it was highly unprofessional. They wouldn’t let me wait in the lobby, even briefly, or hold my luggage until the official check-in time. One front desk staff member was rude and offered no reasonable alternative. I was turned away with my bags at 3:00 am, felt unsafe, and had to take a taxi and book another hotel at extra cost. Although I asked for a cancellation and refund because I was denied accommodation, they still charged me for the night. This was a very disappointing experience with poor customer care and no basic hospitality. I can’t recommend the hotel.

I’ve stayed here for months, and Salvatore is one of the reasons I keep coming back. He’s kind, professional and welcoming every time, and makes you feel at home. Really good service.

The hotel itself is fine, but the room-cleaning policy needs to be explained at check-in. A notice at reception saying rooms are cleaned only on the third day can easily be missed. And when a guest puts out the “Clean up the room” sign two days after arriving, please make sure the room gets cleaned.
