The apartment is in a good location, and the bathroom is generally modern and nice. Its radiator is old, yellowed and damaged, though, and there isn't a curtain on the window. There were bigger issues too. When we arrived, the stairwell and apartment smelled of oil, fuel and exhaust, probably from the garage below, which doesn't seem properly separated, as the photos show. We couldn't find smoke detectors in either place. We pointed this out, but the landlady didn't replace them. According to what I read online, renting without smoke detectors is illegal. The apartment was clean, but the windows looked as if they hadn't been washed in a long time. The roller blind in the living and bedroom area also seems to have been broken for a while, based on older reviews. There were dark discolored patches around the radiator and in the corners by the bed. The hallway door was an ordinary interior door rather than a main entrance door. The floor area may be about 35 square meters, but with sloping ceilings throughout, I estimate only around 20 square meters are usable. The landlady wasn't there when we arrived, and the next day she indirectly accused us of not wanting to pay for our dog. We weren't offered receipts for the €20 dog fee or the €15 tourist tax. Her friendliness was limited, and in its current condition I can't recommend the apartment.

A peaceful side street brings you to this holiday apartment in the heart of the Eifel, a lovely spot to unwind. It's well equipped too. It's popular and often booked up, so I'd book early.

The place was spotless, and the hosts were really nice. It had everything we needed to look after ourselves, and there are a small supermarket, a few restaurants and a bakery nearby. Monschau is only 2.5 km away. We came to the Eifel to hike and explore, and this was a great base. The owners also offer carriage rides, which could be an idea if you're traveling with a group, or you could ask about joining another group on a ride. We'll definitely book again. Best wishes, Tobias
