Mauritzhof Hotel Münster, a Member of Design Hotels

We’ve stayed here many times because our daughter lives nearby, and it’s our go to hotel. It’s clean and comfortable, close to the train station and town center. The beds are so comfortable you won’t want to get up.

We got a nice room upgrade, and the room itself was very nice, though it had no view because it was slightly underground. It did have a patio, which made the room feel a bit unusual. The hotel is clean and nicely run near the town center, but it’s outside the town wall, Marriott platinum member. There’s a very good restaurant, but the staff seemed very young and didn’t tell us much about the hotel or restaurant, the trucks, or the food quality. We ended up having a really good experience at a German restaurant in town as well. Parking is across the street in a lot. The town is small and good for a day, with lots of biking. I thought hotel staff could be friendlier and more welcoming to Marriott guests, and offer the free breakfast they’re used to for supporting Marriott.

The location made everything easy, with the old town right nearby and a supermarket, bakery, coffee shops, and restaurants all within walking distance. We slept really well in the huge, comfortable bed and bedding. Service was good too. Following the hotel’s directions, we parked in a public indoor garage. Our room faced the street, and it was interesting to watch the construction site, but the soundproof windows kept out all the traffic noise. I was happy with the hotel and enjoyed my stay.

The cozy lobby set a nice tone, and breakfast was a highlight. The staff served drinks of our choice and made us feel welcome before asking for our room number. I also liked that the room didn’t have preachy signs about skipping housekeeping in the name of saving the planet. The service was excellent, and everything felt clean from arrival. One disappointing surprise was the minibar bill, since the prices were tucked away in a booklet. I contacted the hotel, and they said they’re working to improve this. It didn’t outweigh the good parts of my stay, and I’d still consider coming back.
