The setting mixes modern touches with a cozy, rustic feel, and lavender decorations are everywhere, even in the bathroom, which was elegant and very clean. It’s also a nice area for a stroll. At the meal, every dish was delicious: the chestnut soup was aromatic, the pumpkin open lasagna nicely balanced, the homemade Schlutzkrapfen were fantastic, and the duck was superb. Service was warm and attentive. The kids loved the children’s menu, especially the schnitzel, still their clear favorite. We’ll definitely come back.

We only came in for a light lunch, but it turned out to be a real treat. We sat in the charming beer garden, with the Inn Valley spread out below us and the hills of Upper Austria visible across the river. Behind us stood the historic building with its cozy restaurant, all within the impressive setting of a late medieval castle. The welcome was warm, and the staff handled our order flexibly. They happily brought just potato salad, which is usually served with the schnitzel. I chose beef tartare made from Austrian organic beef and expected something rustic. Instead, it was a refined dish, delicately prepared and topped with beetroot brunoise. Mustard caviar, pickled beetroot, and homemade mayonnaise with just the right acidity and a hint of truffle made a dreamy combination with the well-seasoned tartare. I can't remember having a better one, even compared with the tartares I've tried in France, where people are very proud of the dish. We’ll come back for dinner at the next opportunity. The first impression was fabulous!
