Hotel Kammweg

We were two sisters walking the Rennsteig and stayed one night last week. Breakfast had lots of choice, and both the meal and breakfast were delicious. We were glad they let us eat early at 7 a.m., even though breakfast officially starts at 7:30. The room was spacious and quiet. It was hot, so we opened both windows, but smoke from staff taking a break near the staff entrance came into our room.

Breakfast was tasty and offered plenty of choice, and the staff were friendly. Our superior room was in good shape and reasonably clean, though not perfectly so. For a short break, the hotel works well, but it’s showing its age: most of the furnishings feel stuck in the early 2000s. More attention to detail inside and out, along with a few investments, could make a real difference. We skipped the evening buffet at 27.50 euros because we wanted Thuringian food. Unfortunately, there’s only one proper alternative restaurant in town, and no charging stations for electric cars.

Everyone greeted our requests with a smile. The front desk and restaurant staff were very accommodating, and the service was great. The whole hotel feels a little dated, but it’s absolutely fine.

The evening receptionist was such an interesting person, full of knowledge, and very service-minded. I could have talked with him all evening. He made it easy to imagine choosing this hotel again. The buffet was okay, but no more than that for what we paid. Breakfast was good.
