Forsthaus Strelitz

The food was probably my favorite dining experience of the year, helped along by two super cute dogs. Simple ingredients were turned into delicious meals. I especially loved the cauliflower with cheese sauce, which I still think about sometimes. Every course was really good, and breakfast the next day was simple but delicious too. It showed how less can be more when the ingredients are right. The setting is beautiful, with a lovely barn out in the countryside and beautiful design in both the rooms and restaurant. We visited in September 2022, and the room was a little cold in the evening, but that wouldn't stop me coming back. The staff were super nice. I highly recommend the place.

We were a group of 5 and had a wonderful stay. The rooms are beautiful, and the little house off the main building has lovely light, great bedding, and a relaxing bathtub with a beautiful view over the farm. We arrived in the afternoon for sunset drinks in the garden, then had dinner. It was one of the most wonderful dining experiences I've had. The food was delicious, and the dining room felt warm and inviting. Service was casual but very attentive.

The cuisine is excellent, and the chef is cool. The team are right on point if you appreciate an elegant, reserved style. This is a treasure for people who enjoy fine dining with solid, down to earth character. I'd recommend staying the night too, and enjoying the simple but very fine breakfast. A great weekend trip, and I'd recommend it to anyone who asks.

The breakfast the next morning was outstanding, and the whole stay felt like good value. The owner, who’s also the chef, made an exquisite 4-5 course dinner using ingredients from his garden. It’s a lovely weekend escape from Berlin for hiking and a proper meal, especially if you spend the night in the barn.
